Production Process:

Methyl ricinoleate is pyrolyzed at high temperature, yielding heptaldehyde, methyl undecylenate and a small amount of fatty acids. Pure heptaldehyde and methyl undecylenate are isolated by fractional distillation.

Applications
This ester of undecylenic acid finds application in cosmetics,pharmaceuticals,and anti-odour formulations.
