a seed once sprouted is a growing plant and the age of the seed will not affect the rate of plant growth once sprouted.... i keep seed for years that isnt all planted at once, and ive 15 plus yr old seeds that sprouted this year, nothing special about the way they were stored either, in original packing, and in an old icecream container.... or old coffee cans, in a moderate temperature room. As seed gets older germination sometimes becomes less in percentage, but ive both hybrid and non hybrid seed that sprouted..... and the plants are growing just fine and some are growing better than the fresh seed plants from this year.....
All is required is good soil, water and fertilzer to keep a plant thriving and growing, no secret to it, and what works this year may be not quite right next year in the same or similar spot..... weather changes, amount of water applied might be slightly different, and soil amendments may be off for the plant requirements and you not really catch it cause it just wasnt worth paying for a soil analysis.....
